Medical Detection Dogs – A demonstration

Dates
Wednesday, March 8, 2017 - 12:00 to 14:00
Location
Library Seminar Rooms 1 & 2, The Open University, Walton Hall, Milton Keynes, MK7 6AA

This seminar will cover both sides of the charity’s work; an expanding program of medical alert assistance dogs, who are trained and partnered to alert individuals with complex health conditions prior to the onset of a life-threatening medical emergency, and the research into cancer detection by sniffer dogs, (including a live demonstration, by one of the bio detection dogs).

The team will talk about one of their current studies which is investigating the ability and accuracy of specially trained dogs to distinguish between urine samples donated by individuals with cancer and non-cancerous conditions.

If you are healthy and aged between 18 and 40, there will be the chance to participate in this study.

All university staff, students and external visitors are welcome. Feel free to bring a (cold) packed lunch with you – we will provide tea, coffee and water.
