CSGD collaborates with the University of Cape Coast on education conference

Over 150 people attended the International Conference on Education Research for Development in Africa (ICERDA) in Ghana in September 2023, organised as a collaboration between The Centre for the Study of Global Development (CSGD) and the University of Cape Coast.

There is currently limited discourse on successful approaches to education in Africa based on insights from African researchers and their analysis and interpretation of the education challenge. ICERDA provides a platform for African researchers to share their knowledge and collaborate with policymakers to develop policies that can improve teaching and learning outcomes.

ICERDA is committed to making education research conferences in Africa more accessible to researchers on the continent. The conference received funding from the Gates Foundation and Education Sub-Saharan Africa, which provided bursaries for over 20 participants.

At ICERDA, CSGD colleagues presented papers highlighting the importance of understanding what works in African education systems and contexts and made new research connections.

CSGD looks forward to partnering with the University of Cape Coast on next year’s ICERDA conference.
