The OU is positive about carers

The OU has been awarded Carer Positive ‘established' status by Carers Scotland. Fiona Roberts, Group HR Director, and Susan Stewart, Director of The OU in Scotland, received the award from Simon Hodgson, Director of Carers Scotland, on behalf of the University.

Carer Positive is an initiative funded by the Scottish Government which aims to encourage employers to create a supportive working environment for carers in the workplace. It offers three levels of award: engaged, established and exemplary. The OU's Care and Caring Network (CCN@OU) has worked with Human Resources over the past year to apply for the ‘established' award. The OU had previously achieved ‘engaged' status in 2015.

Although Carer Positive is a Scottish initiative, it has been awarded to the whole University in recognition of the support provided to staff across the whole UK.
