The journey to the viva

In this interactive session, I will explore both the journey to the viva and the viva itself, offering both advice from my experience as an examiner in well over 25 PhDs/EdDs, and opportunities to consider key issues in relation to your own journey. In particular I will highlight the challenges and tensions which too often arise, and examine issues such as the candidate’s skill at articulating their original contribution to knowledge, their adroit use of a quality concluding chapter and their ability to defend without becoming defensive the decisions and choices made, specifically in relation to their chosen methodology and methods.
