Research on learning with mobile phones, tablets and other portable devices involves understanding mobile contexts and interrelationships between informal and formal uses of these technologies. Research on language learning considers situational contexts and technologically diverse communication environments. We explore the intersection of these areas of research and the range of methods available, their potential and their limitations.
