Supporting the mentor

Introduction

This section provides some reminders about the support that is available to you, whilst you are mentoring a student nurse studying the pre-registration degree nursing programme with the Open University.

Outcomes

At the end of this part of the induction you should be able to:

• recall key sources of support for you
• access information via the Nursing Partners' website
• use this induction as an 'easy reference' tool.

Activity: Identifying support for you

Think back over the content that you have studied during this induction. Using the student support template (pdf) make a list of all the potential sources of support that you feel are open to you and in the right hand column note the sort of issues that each particular source of support might best address. Now compare your list with this one (pdf).
