Diabetes management

According to Diabetes UK, 2.5 million people in the UK have now been diagnosed with diabetes. This number is set to rise to five million by 2025. These numbers tell a clear, if alarming, story but the impact of diabetes on people’s lives is far greater and much harder to convey. Diabetes of whatever type is a serious long-term condition which, if not monitored and managed actively, can cause devastating complications. Education and training has a huge part to play in supporting professionals, people with diabetes and their families and friends to understand the condition better and manage it as effectively as possible.

KG003 Improving diabetes management

KG003 introduces the physiological processes involved in diabetes, diagnosis and treatment as well as day-to-day management and monitoring for complications. It also addresses standards for good care and the characteristics of an empowering relationship between practitioners and people with diabetes
