Professional biography

I am the Head of Student Success in the Faculty of Wellbeing, Education and Language Studies (WELS). I identify and recommend improvements to ensure the Faculty's student success targets on retention, progression and qualification completion are achieved.

I joined The Open University in 2009 and worked as a Senior Manager (Strategy and Communications) and managed several European Commission funded FP6 and FP7 projects. Prior to joining the OU, I worked as an international Learning & Development Consultant.

Qualifications

I hold a Master’s degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor’s degree (Hons) in Business Studies with Economics. I am a qualified Prince2 Practitioner and Six Sigma Green Belt. My specialist areas are project management, research communications and blended learning solutions.

OU student wins Care Apprentice Award

Heather always wanted to be a mental health nurse, having worked as a carer for a number of years. When she was given the chance by her employer to study for an Open University course in Health Care Practise, she grabbed the opportunity. Earlier this year, Heather was awarded the Care Apprentice Award at the National Care Awards, as Carers Week begins, she talks about her journey with The OU.
