Professional biography

From October 2017 – 2021, I am studying for a PhD with the Open University’s Centre for Research in Education and Educational Technology (CREET), researching safer social media for educators, informed by open educational practices & online safety.

Alongside CREET, I am also a member of the Global OER Graduate Network (GO-GN), which supports PhD researchers in Open Education. My interest in open education developed during a half-time Fellowship at the Support Centre for Open Resources in Education (SCORE) between 2010 – 2012.

Since then, in 2015 I received the Open Education Consortium Creative Innovation award for my CYP-Media project, which used open educational practices (OEP) to increase access to learning in the children and young people’s sector, and had the privilege of being among JISC’s top 50 most influential HE academics on social media.
