CSGD / World Vision Webinar - Catch-Up Then What? : Aligning Education Systems with Children's Realities

Dates
Tuesday, May 27, 2025 - 12:00 to 13:15

Join us for an insightful Knowledge in Action Webinar, where researchers and practitioners will explore strategies for the systemic support of vulnerable children’s educational recovery and progression.

A panel of organisations, including World Vision and the Centre for the Study of Global Development (CSGD) at The Open University, will discuss their experiences of different catch-up and accelerated learning initiatives and explore how such programmes can be embedded into education systems to transform learning pathways and empower all children. What needs to change so that the education system works for these children, and we do not need to play catch up for ever.

The webinar will be chaired by Professor Kwame Akyeampong, CSGD Director, who is also co-chair of the Global Education Evidence Advisory Panel (GEEAP) co-hosted by FCDO, UNICEF and World Bank, member of the Luminos Fund Board of Directors, and recently appointed member of the Yidan Prize Foundation Advisory Committee.  Together with Dr Sean Higgins, Kwame is co-author of the forthcoming book. ‘Reconceptualising the Learning Crisis in Africa: Multi-dimensional Pedagogies of Accelerated Learning Programmes’.
