Conferences

Since the first conference in 1995, these annual events have been at the heart of the work of the Social History of Learning Disability Research Group. They capture the spirit and practice of what the group is about.

Covering a variety of topics over the years, they are an inclusive space in which people with learning disabilities play a full part as co-presenters, chairs as well as actively participating as audience members. The conferences usually take place over one or two days.

In the sidebar is a list of most of the conferences.

If you click on the conference title, you will find details of the papers presented. For many of these, you can also open an abstract or a power point, along with an audio recording of the speaker. For the 2001 conference, as a one-off, there is a video of each presenter.

Because of the Covid-19 Pandemic there have been NO conferences in 2020 and 2021.

BUT online events are planned for 2021 and 2022. Please click NEWS.
