Join us for Talk 5 about the five pillars of ageing

In this talk, Geeta shares personal reflections of ageing and what she wishes her younger self knew, and paid attention to. Geeta wants to live a long life, and a healthy one where she remains independent. Geeta will go through the Five Pillars and share simple ways in which she has made changes and new choices over recent years, recognising that she is at a particular stage in her life, carrying a set of privileges that her younger self did not have, particularly knowledge in relation to 'wellbeing'. As a grandmother today, Geeta ends by sharing thoughts on how she might pass on her 'ageing well' tips to the next generation. DADIMA walks celebrate culture and knowledge which we know boost learning and wellbeing in later life.

The Speaker

Dr Geeta Ludhra is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Brunel University and has a background in teaching, school leadership, and academia. Over the last five years, Geeta has set-up and developed a non-profit, registered social enterprise called Dadima’s CIC. This community enterprise has a practitioner-research focus on building intergenerational connections through free monthly nature events. Her interest lies in how nature connections and 'wellbeing' work for diverse communities. Geeta has a keen interest in mental health and wellbeing and exploring ways in which nature connectedness in its broadest sense can support this in small ways. Geeta is also an Ambassador for Take Five to Age Well.
