Are you a professional or practitioner supporting fathers in the bereavement space? Join us for a free, in-person, interactive event in Birmingham.

The Open University is hosting a forum theatre event for health and allied professionals as well as bereavement practitioners to explore ways to support fathers following perinatal loss.

The forum theatre is specifically tailored to explore an experience in a clinical setting or related professional setting in the form of a play. It is part of a study conducted by The Open University in which fathers’ experiences of support and care following baby loss were previously explored.

What would taking part involve?

The forum will start with a play based on real experiences as reported by bereaved fathers followed by a chance for you to discuss the content and contribute ideas to improving the support provided to fathers. A member of the research team will take notes of about some of the ways support for fathers can be provided. All information will be anonymised.

This is an in-person event held at The Studio in Birmingham. Lunch and refreshments will be provided throughout the afternoon. The forum theatre will be facilitated by trained actors and the research team led by Dr Kerry Jones. There are a limited number of travel bursaries for those who are on low income or are volunteers.

If you need any further information or would like to talk to someone before you decide whether or not to take part, you can contact Dr Kerry Jones who is leading this study by telephoning this number: 01908 652869 or by contacting Kerry via the following email: kerry.jones@open.ac.uk
