In Nigeria, adolescent pregnancy and motherhood are becoming common experiences within educational spaces. Yet, in-school pregnancy and motherhood, and how it intersects with health outcomes, are often overlooked and silenced in policies, interventions, and social discourses. This has significant implications for the lives of pregnant teenagers and unmarried young mothers.
Dr Ayomide Oluseye, an ESRC Research Fellow in CSGD, will share findings and recommendations from research with young women and stakeholder workshops with professionals in the health and educational sector. During the seminar, we will delve into unheard stories of young women’s challenges, open up dialogue on the intersections of health and education, and consider the opportunities and challenges for interdisciplinary working.
