Education Scotland has endorsed The Open University’s Masters in Education qualifications. Their endorsement of the four MA Education specialist pathways was based on an application process and panel interview, in which they explored the extent to which the programme aligned with Scotland’s national model of professional learning.
The panel were particularly impressed by the “deep learning which participants engage in” through cycles of critical reflection, and the “clear focus on the importance of collaboration and peer networks to support learning”.
Dr Gill Clifton, Programme Lead for Taught Postgraduate in the WELS School of Education, Childhood, Youth and Sport, said:
“Education Scotland’s endorsement provides assurance that our programme offers relevant, significant, and sustained quality learning, which positively impacts on learners as well as participants. Their endorsement is testament to the outstanding work of everyone involved in developing and facilitating the Masters in Education.”
Education Scotland is responsible for supporting quality and improvement in Scottish education, which helps to secure the delivery of better learning experiences and outcomes for Scottish learners of all ages.
With four specialist pathways (Learning and Teaching; Inclusive Practice; Leadership and Management; and Applied Linguistics) the OU’s flexible Masters in Education programme is suitable for education professionals who wish to acquire qualities and transferable skills that are highly prized by employers, with learners being encouraged to relate the content of the modules to their own experiences.
