We are delighted to share that three early-career researchers from the Centre for the Study of Global Development – Dr Ayomide Oluseye, Elise Denis-Ramirez and Elizabeth Ascroft will be contributing to the book, ‘Creative Research on Gender and Sexuality in Childhood and Youth’ published by Routledge. The collection will be edited by Tuija Huuki, Suvi Pihkala, EJ Renold and Carol A. Taylor and published in 2025.

Dr Ayomide Oluseye and Elise Denis-Ramirez are co-authoring a chapter in the ‘making trouble’ section of the book, which focuses on the potential for creative methods to notice and surface difficult or sensitive topics. Their chapter is ‘Participation, Adaptation, and Innovation: Feminist, decolonial and methodological reflections from doing creative research with young women in Chile and Nigeria.’

Elizabeth Ascroft is contributing to the ‘making praxis’ section, which highlights the affordances of creative methods for transformation and change. Her chapter is ‘Zine-ic research and praxis with young people: Becoming art-and-play-full with sexuality education in Aruba.’

Dr Ayomide Oluseye’s research is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council. The International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) funds Elise Denis-Ramirez and Elizabeth Ascroft’s research.
