Tessa's nursing career commenced in the early 1980s. She qualified in both Adult and CYP nursing and worked as a staff nurse, ward sister, unit manager and clinical nurse specialist, before taking her first teaching role in 1997. Since then, she has had a variety of clinical, academic, research and managerial positions. Tessa is currently works at the Open University and is involved in both strategic and operational aspects of the Nursing programme.
She holds a Master’s Degree in Health Sciences, a Post Graduate Diploma in Education, a Post Graduate Certificate in Allergic Disease and achieved her SFHEA in 2020. She is now studying for a Professional Doctorate.
