Gwen Morgan- BA (Hons) Industrial Design and Innovation, PGCE (Secondary Design and Technology), MA Education Leadership and Management.
Gwen is a technology curriculum tutor for the PGCE Secondary Program, having joined the OU in January 2024. During her teaching career Gwen worked as a Design and Technology teacher, Head of Department, Head of Year and Careers Coordinator.
Gwen also works as a team lead for WJEC within the Design and Technology GCSE moderation team. Combining 16 years of classroom experience with her passion for the subject, allows her to focus on enabling PGCE student teachers to complete their studies with the skills and knowledge to thrive in their early careers, and to share their enthusiasm for technology with pupils of all ages and abilities.
As technology is ever changing, so too are Gwen’s interests in research areas. Gwen looks forward to starting her EdD and is currently explorring possible research areas focusing on how technology effects education and the world around us today.
She is a firm believer in embracing new developments in technology, and is interested in looking further into Ai and its possible effects on the Four Purposes of the Curriculum for Wales.
Over the years Gwen has been particularly interested in learning styles and how conventional GCSE’S don’t always enable all learners to achieve to their full potential. Her career has been driven by researching and implementing courses that ensure learners of all abilities and styles are better reflected within the curriculum. This lead her to diversify the courses options offered within her school.
Gwen has an interest in asesment for learinng stratagies, and how these can be used within a practical subject. She looks forward to reflecting on these interest within her teachnig seminas.
