Profile summary

Professional biography

My research is a sociolinguistic study of the unique speech practices of young people of Maghrebi origin living around Paris.

The aim of this project is to understand the links between emerging speech styles within this group, and the broader phenomenon of social exclusion. My project is supervised by Dr. Maria Secova, and is funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council through the Open-Oxford-Cambridge Doctoral Training Partnership.

Prior to my PhD, I completed my BA in French and Modern Greek at Balliol College, Oxford, and my MA in French at the University of Sheffield, where my dissertation focused on the use of liaison by young people of Maghrebi origin.
