Parents' Experiences of Two Different Approaches to Diabetes Care in Children Newly Diagnosed With Type 1 Diabetes

Various care approaches are provided to support families with newly diagnosed children in their task of diabetes management. We conducted qualitative interviews with 36 parents of 23 children, newly diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. The parents were recruited from participants in a Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT) evaluating hospital-based care (HBC) and hospital-based home care (HBHC), to explore their experiences of two different approaches to diabetes care. The HBC was considered as being safe but not family- or diabetes-oriented.

A key challenge facing the mental health field is connecting children and families to services when symptoms first appear. Multiple barriers inhibit timely access to treatment, and interventions to resolve barriers to care are not common among health and social care organisations.

The expert caregiver intervention targeting former caregivers in finland: A co-design and feasibility study using mixed methods

Background: Informal caregivers face risks of social isolation. Given the high prevalence of informal caregivers in Europe, a considerable proportion of the population are also former caregivers. The Finnish Expert Caregiver intervention sought to train former caregivers to become volunteers aim-ing to support current caregivers through mainly peer support.

Designing and Evaluating a Goal-Setting Tip Sheet for Stroke Family Caregiver Health

Objectives: The aim of the study was to design and evaluate a goal-setting tip sheet to improve stroke family caregiver health as part of the Telephone Assessment and Skill-Building Kit program. Methods:  A multimethod design using open-ended questions and rating forms was used in this study. Methods In two studies, the goal-setting tip sheet was evaluated by caregivers (N = 12; N = 6), researchers (N = 10; N = 3), clinicians (N = 8; N = 4), and technology experts (N = 4; N = 4).

Care tasks and impact of caring in primary family caregivers: A cross-sectional study from a nursing perspective

Background: Family caregivers of persons with dementia often experience a negative impact on their health. More studies based on nursing theories are needed to improve the provision of care. Aims: To describe the care provided by family caregivers of persons with dementia and the impact on their health, as well as to analyse how personal variables of caregivers are related to care tasks and their health impact.

"It Wasn't Like We Expected": Analyzing (Non-)Participation of Family Caregivers of People With Dementia in Sports Activities From Different Perspectives

Background: Family caregivers of people with dementia represent a physically and psychologically burdened target group, which can benefit from offers of health promotion, but rarely use existing services. This article deals with the motives and conditions that induce this target group to be (not) active in sports. Methods: For this purpose, the perspectives of family caregivers and local sports clubs in Germany are compared to uncover similarities and discrepancies with the aim of developing target group-specific health promotion services.

Informal Caregivers' Well-Being at the Transition to Caregiving

Objectives: The aim of this study was to describe the psychological and physical health needs of informal caregivers in a rehabilitation hospital and explore differences related to informal caregiver and care recipient characteristics. Readiness to engage in health promotion and perspectives on mindfulness meditation were assessed. Methods: Informal caregivers (N = 33) to patients receiving inpatient or outpatient treatment completed the Multidimensional Health Profile screening tools. Readiness to change was assessed using the readiness ruler approach.
