The young triathlete with brain metastases has rapidly become debilitated. But his wife, a cancer survivor, has a sagelike calm, born in part of experience volunteering with dying children. Her husband — and his oncologist — are fortunate to have such a caregiver.

Objective: Family caregivers (FCs) of cancer patients are frequently seen as a barrier to honest communication with patients in Egypt. This study was conducted to investigate the attitude of FCs of cancer patients toward cancer diagnosis disclosure (CDD) and its determinants.; Methods: A structured interview was used to assess the preferences of 288 FCs regarding CDD.; Results: According to the FCs, 85% of patients were aware of their diagnosis. The majority (81%) of FCs preferred CDD to patients.

Objective: Family caregiver involvement may improve patient and family outcomes in the intensive care unit.

Physical health monitoring is crucial in the light of current knowledge about the risks associated with schizophrenia and its treatment. Cooperation between psychiatrists, patients and informal carers can significantly enhance patient wellbeing in this regard. Moreover, an advocacy approach elevates patients from being passive recipients of care to active participants in an integrated system that has outcome benefits for all stakeholders.
