Background: Cancer patients commonly require assistance from a relative or friend, and many of these “family caregivers” are navigating employment while caring. Objectives: The purpose of this analysis was to understand the experience of employment while providing care to someone with cancer, including these caregivers’ roles and burden, adjustments made to employment, assistance provided by employers, and preferences for employment and financial support.

Geriatrics workforce enhancement program: educational outcomes of community-based dementia caregiver conferences

Providing educational interventions to informal dementia caregivers has been shown to have numerous positive outcomes including improving general well-being and quality of life as well as reducing depression, anxiety, and caregiver stress. The purpose of this study is the development, delivery, and evaluation of caregiver conferences to educate informal dementia caregivers about dementia and caregiving. We provided eight half-day conferences for informal caregivers to educate them about Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD) and make them aware of community and state resources.

Making it Real for Carers explores what each Making it Real theme means to carers and what this might look like in practice. It has been coproduced with carers and organisations including the Carers Trust and ADASS following a series of workshops across England. 

The template below provides a guide to the approach that could be taken when looking at what's working and what needs improving in relation to Making it Real for Carers. Many organisations will have their own business planning processes and frameworks and this can be used as a checklist to inform those.
