The Open University has a longstanding tradition of co-creation, co-design, co-production, participation and inclusivity in research and teaching. This work goes to the heart of our social justice mission. It embodies our collective commitment to transforming not only how we research and teach but also the social, cultural and political conditions in which our research and teaching take place.

For the first time, Co-INSPIRE shines a light on all the 'Co' work happening at the Open University — helping us critically engage with it and grow as an institution. Together with our collaborators and partners, we're redefining what an 'open university' looks like.
Prof Peter Keogh Co-INSPIRE Chair
Established in 2025, the Co-INSPIRE programme aims to bring together our co-creative, co-designed, co-productive, participatory and inclusive work in one place. Co-INSPIRE is creating spaces where we can reflect critically on this work, learn together and continually improve what we do. Our ambition is to find ways of opening up the university to the people we work with.
