Education and scholarship for professional practice

The Open University has a track record of delivering supported and open distance learning in the fields of Nursing (Adult, Children's and Young People, Learning Disabilities and Mental Health), Health and Social Care for over 30 years. We offer a wide range of programmes (both apprenticeship and direct entry routes) including the Foundation Degree in Nursing Associate Practice. The Open University was awarded an overall Gold rating in the 2023 Teaching Excellence Framework and our Nursing Associate direct entry qualification has the Higher Technical Qualification kitemark. We also offer a Professional Doctorate in Health and Social Care. This programme enables you to enhance your career at doctoral level, enabling you to make a unique contribution to your profession or area of practice while continuing to work and progress in your workplace setting. Members of the Open Nursing and Allied Health Professions Research Group lead innovative scholarship projects that seek to understand and advance practice in the field of teaching and learning through research.
