The Open University’s Global Education and Digital Transformation (GEDT) network advances SDG4 through inclusive, globally connected learning. Integrating research, education, and social innovation, GEDT strengthens social-emotional learning, AI-enhanced open schooling, and researcher development—building equitable, resilient education systems for wellbeing, sustainability, and fair futures worldwide.
The Global Education and Digital Transformation (GEDT) network cocreates inclusive learning resources, innovative teaching methodologies, and open, research-informed tools that strengthen equitable and resilient education systems.
GEDT offers recognised frameworks such as CARE–KNOW–DO, supporting researchers, educators, and learners to integrate real-life issues into curricula, skills development, and career pathways. Its capacity-building initiatives empower educators and learners to cultivate transversal competencies, critical thinking, and informed decision-making for wellbeing, sustainability, and employability.
Through cross-continental collaboration, digital innovation, and open research, GEDT catalyses systemic, scalable, and inclusive educational transformation that responds to diversity in gender, culture, geography, age, and learning contexts.
Comprehending and combining expertise in digital pedagogy, reflective learning, and AI for education, GEDT constructs equity- and ethics-driven interdisciplinary research to co-design learning innovations with schools, NGOs, SMEs, and policymakers worldwide.
Coordinating cross-continental flagship projects—including CATCHUP Education, CONNECT Science, and METEOR Teamworking—GEDT advances social-emotional learning, digital inclusion, capacity building, and researcher development for fair and sustainable futures.
Aligned with the UN Global Education Coalition and the EU Digital Education Action Plan, GEDT communicates through policy engagement, teacher professional development, and open schooling models that employ responsible technologies to bridge the digital divide and promote lifelong learning and emancipatory education for global citizenship.
