Ibali at the IVMC Conference in Rome, Italy.

Ibali team members attended the International Visual Methods Conference (IVMC2023) in Rome (May 29th -31st) to run a workshop and screening on our project. The ibali workshop session presented three activities based on the storytelling for transformation methodology to give participants a "taste" of what we do. The larger group was split into three small groups, each with a different storytelling technique. Ibali’s Katie Collins took her group through the role of images in scriptwriting, using ideas from Gaston Bachelard's The Poetics of Space; Yusra Price facilitated a short "unstil" tableau of one participant's free writing; and Alison Buckler had participants create their own story cubes and tell a story using their cubes. At the end of the session, the groups performed, told stories and shared experiences of the activity they were part of. The overall feedback was positive and people gained insight into how multi-media is used in our method and arts-based methods in general.
