Ibali Learning and Impact Event in the UK

Dates
Thursday, December 14, 2023 - 09:30

In December, the Ibali team came together from Nigeria, South Africa and the UK to hold a Learning and Impact Event at the OU in Milton Keynes. The activities of Days 1 and 2 were held among the core project team and Advisory Members from the UK and Nigeria who joined in person. Both days focused on the inclusion and ethnography-of-storytelling aspects of the Ibali project respectively.

Day 3 was a key highlight of the week involving a mini-conference for researchers and practitioners with interest and work in educational inclusion which was hosted by the Ibali team in collaboration with the OU’s Centre for the Study of Global Development (CSGD).

This hybrid event brought together people working in different ways and on different projects, programmes or initiatives which centre the issue of inclusion. It was aimed at promoting Ibali’s core focus on inclusion, facilitating learning and networking, and encouraging future collaborations among attendees.  The first part of the day was focused on inclusion in education as a topic of interest while the second part was about how we can centre inclusive principles in our research or work.

The event was a great opportunity for the Ibali team to engage with a diverse range of educational inclusion stakeholders. It also provided the stakeholders an opportunity to contribute to the inclusion discourse intellectually and in a fun way.
