Fay Dudson, Open University nursing graduate, has won the Student Innovation in Practice Award at this year’s Student Nursing Times Awards.

Dr Ursula Stickler has been promoted to Professor of Online Language Teaching, following a career specialising in online language pedagogy, autonomous learning, and innovating research methodologies.

Dr Mirjam Hauck, from the School of Languages and Linguistics, has been promoted to Professor of Critical Digital Pedagogies, following nearly 30 years at the forefront of technological developments at The Open University.

Dr Eric Addae-Kyeremeh, from the OU's School of Education, Childhood, Youth and Sport (ECYS), has been promoted to Professor of Educational Leadership and Development in recognition of his sustained excellence in teaching, knowledge exchange and academic leadership in education and international development.

Dr Martin Robb, from The Open University’s School of Health, Wellbeing and Social Care, has been promoted to Professor of Care Ethics and Culture. His academic research has been broadly concerned with issues relating to gender, identity and care, and has included studies of men working in childcare, young masculinities, fathering identities, and bereaved fathers.

Led by CSGD Co-Deputy Director Dr Keetie Roelen, an audience of 90 activists, researchers and policy makers gathered at an anti-poverty organisation in London to discuss the role of empathy in reducing poverty, and celebrate the publication of Dr Roelen's book, The Empathy Fix. 

Dr Philip Seargeant of the Faculty of WELS is February's winner of OU Research Image of the Month. His winning image captures his research in a uniquely creative way.

“How can education and digital transformation work together to address global challenges?” was a key question explored at The Open University last week, as they hosted the UK-Brazil Seminar, bringing together leading organisations from the UK, Brazil and the US.

Dr Margaret Ebubedike is the overall winner of the newly launched OU Research Image Competition. Academics from across the OU submitted images which follow the theme, "impacting the world." An image has been selected by the judging panel for every month of the year.
