Award-winning OU/BBC co-production ‘Hospital’ returns for a sixth series, filmed at London’s Royal Free Trust hospitals as staff and patients grapple with the extraordinary challenge of operating within the new COVID landscape.

Extensive work to develop support for student carers at The Open University has been acknowledged with a Going Higher for Student Carers Recognition Award.

The latest addition to The Open University’s selection of nursing programmes has received approval from the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) and provides a direct-entry route for individuals in London and the South West region looking to kick-start their nursing career.

OU Student Nurse Solomon Jones has been nominated for the Nursing Times Mary Seacole Award in recognition of his contribution to diversity and inclusion.

Anthony, a Registered Nurse Degree Apprentice at The Open University, has shared his story of progression with the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Apprenticeships. The online APPG on Apprenticeships session, held on 20 October, focused on the importance of degree apprenticeships.  Anthony was put forward to share the impact of his learning and the career progression he has experienced. 

The Reading for Pleasure (RfP) project has launched Book Chat: Reading with your Child, a collaboration with Macmillan Children's Books to provide a resource which comprises three short films and support materials to help parents, families and carers read books conversationally and creatively to children. ​

Staff Nurse and Open University graduate Bernadette Guthrie has been shortlisted for a Nursing Times Student Award.

Jen has successfully secured one of only 20 places on the inaugural Florence Nightingale Foundation Leadership Programme for Mental Health Nursing Associates.

Every year, the Faculty of Wellbeing, Education and Language Studies (WELS) recognises its students for their achievements through the WELS Student Awards, and this year eight talented students received awards in two categories, in a virtual ceremony.
