Age old attitudes? Planning for retirement, means-testing, inheritance and informal care

An investigation of people's attitudes, understanding and expectations of their individual or collective rights and responsibilities in old age.

Since 1997, Labour has made wide-ranging changes to the pensions and long-term care environment in the UK. But how does their reform agenda compare with the attitudes and aspirations of modern citizens? Age Old Attitudes reports on the understanding and expectation of people when asked specifically about universal and means-tested entitlements, the role of inheritance, and the issue of caring for elderly relatives. Special emphasis is given to clarifying the views of different generations. This report is the first from our series on pensions and other issues for the third age.
