This film looks at the family support service for the families and carers of people who are at the end of their lives at Leicestershire and Rutland Hospice. Social workers work with other staff members to identify families who are in need of support.

Based on young people's own accounts, this DVD and toolkit gives care workers a valuable opportunity to reflect on and improve practice.

This training resource uses series of monologues from people with dementia and their carers to promote discussion and increase awareness of the problems they face. The monologues are brought to life by the actors Godfrey Jackman and Pam Lyne, using the words of the writers or speakers. A CD-ROM includes a set of facilitators' notes based on the Alzheimer's Society's interpretation of the films and their relevance to the support of people with dementia and their carers.

People with severe learning disabilities sometimes use behaviour that is said to be challenging, in order to communicate. This film illustrates that, with good support, people with challenging behaviour and severe learning disabilities can be enabled to enjoy independent, fulfilling lives. It explains why some people display challenging behaviour, and it shows how consistent, personalised support can reduce or prevent it. We see how vital it is to support family carers properly, and why people with challenging behaviour should not be excluded from services.

A short film aimed at carers which presents the story of two families and their experiences of person centred planning. The DVD also contains background information about person centred planning and contacts for further information.

Service users, carers and academics describe participation in the social work degree at Bucks New University. It looks at the different ways that users and carers are involved in the course, the importance of the university providing appropriate training and support, the benefits students get from contact with users and carers and what users and carers gain from the experience. The video will be of interest to social worker educators, students on social work courses, people working more broadly in co-production/participation and service users and carers.

The film introduces Jill Hunter who was recently discharged from hospital with limited mobility, following major surgery. Jill lives alone and was determined to return to her independent lifestyle. To enable this, Central Bedfordshire adult social care services commissioned their reablement team to work with Jill. We hear from two community reablement workers about the incredible transition people like Jill can make from initially requiring intensive support to being completely independent.

The Parkinson's Disease Society has produced a DVD, Being There, which aims to answer the questions and concerns of people newly diagnosed with the condition. Being There provides an insight into symptoms, treatments and life with Parkinson's in general, and includes interviews with people with Parkinson's, carers, and expert healthcare professionals The DVD is divided into four chapters: introduction to Parkinson's disease; treating Parkinson's; living with Parkinson's; and about the Parkinson's Disease Society.

A DVD in 10 languages to raise awareness of the need for short break carers from Black and minority ethnic communities. To inform potential carers about the rewards and challenges involved in providing short breaks to disabled children. To increase the take up of short break services by the families of disabled children of Black and minority ethnic communities. With English version narrated by Linford Christie.

The film aims to raise awareness of how society treats older people,  as well as raising funds for a cancer care charity Macmillan nurses, and Help the Aged. The film takes a journey through a day in the life and a life in the day of stroke victim Elsie, played by actress Virginia McKenna. Elsie craves compassion and understanding of the person she is on the inside rather than the useless ‘carcass’ she may appear on the outside. Elsie makes a heartfelt but silent plea for her carers to ‘Look closer…see…me…’
