Welcome to the Centre for the Study of Global Development

Human Wellbeing for a Better World

We - the Centre for the Study of Global Development (CSGD)- are an interdisciplinary research centre focused on understanding and addressing global development challenges, particularly those affecting disadvantaged and marginalised communities.

Our work is built on strong, ethical partnerships and a shared commitment to research that matters. We believe the most impactful research is open, collaborative and imaginative, grounded in curiosity, critical thinking and reflection, and informed by our collective thought leadership and research expertise in global development.

Our vision is to undertake transformative research and learning in pursuit of human wellbeing and social justice. We connect those whose lives are most affected by development challenges with those best placed to drive change.
Our focus is global in nature, acknowledging that development challenges exist across countries and contexts, and interdisciplinary at heart, recognising that global development challenges are best addressed through a combination of disciplines, data and methods.

CSGD is a Research Centre based in the Faculty of Wellbeing, Education and Language Studies at The Open University, UK.
