Members of the SHLD Group were part of The Victoria and Stuart Project. to develop resources and a toolkit to support end of life care planning with people with learning disabilities, family members and support staff.
In 2019, The SHLD Group developed a network with a group of researchers and self-advocates in Japan.
The two groups found out what it means to belong for people with learning disabilities in each others’ countries and cultures.

In 2021, an inclusive team of researchers from The Open University teamed up with Learning Disability England to find out about how self-advocacy is funded.
