Professor Martin Mills is the inaugural Director of the Centre for Research on Teachers and Teaching at the IOE (UCL). Martin researches in the area of social justice, pedagogies, school reform, teachers' work, alternative education and gender. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences Australia, has held Visiting Professorships at Kings College London, Roehampton and Queen's Belfast, and is the Immediate Past President of the Australian Association for Research in Education
Dr Amelia Hempel-Jorgensen is a Research Fellow in ECYS, Open University whose research focusses on the relationship between pedagogy and equity. Her research over the past decade has examined how inequalities are produced through pedagogical practices, including reading and literacy pedagogies and how inequities can be avoided. This research focusses on children’s subjectivities using intersectionality theory but also encompasses evaluation research of pedagogies which aim to reduce inequity in schools located in high poverty locations.
