Application and selection process BA (Hons)

Below is information on the forms new and existing employers will need to complete, documentation required to confirm candidates meet the academic entry requirements and submission deadlines.

Forms for new sponsors

If you are interested in sponsoring a candidate on to the Open University’s Social Work degree and you are new to the University and the program, or haven't sponsored a candidate within the last 4 years, you will need to complete an Expression of Interest Form.  Please email if you would like a copy.

Forms for existing sponsors

If you are already sponsoring candidates on our Social Work degree programmes, your Agency Coordinator will be emailed a 'Booking Form for New and Continuing Students' in April . If this form has not arrived by the end of April , please contact us and we will arrange for one to be sent.

Upon receipt of your booking form, you will be sent the necessary application and registration paperwork.

Selecting your candidates

The University has overall responsibility for ensuring that all students meet the entry criteria and are appropriately selected, however, we do encourage our sponsors to carry out their own selection of candidates where possible  In order to do this, you will need to apply to become a 'Selector'.  Alternatively, if you are looking to sponsor multiple students but don't wish to become an approved selector, we may be able to assist with running an Assessment Day within your own organisation.  Please email or phone us on 01908 654229 or email for more information.
