Application and selection process BA (Hons)

Below is information on the forms new and existing employers will need to complete, documentation required to confirm candidates meet the academic entry requirements and submission deadlines.

Forms for new sponsors

If you are interested in sponsoring a candidate onto the Open University’s Social Work degree and you are new to the University and the program, or haven't sponsored a candidate within the last 4 years, please get in touch with us on +44 (0)300 303 0529 or BDU-SW@open.ac.uk for more information and to receive an employer information pack.

Forms for existing sponsors

If you are already sponsoring candidates on our Social Work degree programmes, your Agency Coordinator will be emailed a 'Booking Form for New and Continuing Students' in April . If this form has not arrived by the end of April , please contact us and we will arrange for one to be sent.

Upon receipt of your booking form, you will be sent the necessary application and registration paperwork.

Academic entry requirements – Documentation required

Please check all applicants meet the academic entry requirements before they submit their application. We cannot accept applications if any results are outstanding. All applicants must submit a copy of the following documents, to confirm they meet the academic entry requirements, with their application:

  • Numeracy certificate
  • English certificate
  • Evidence of qualifications equal to 96 UCAS points (new tariff)
  • IELTS certificate (only if English is not their first language).

If an applicant cannot locate their certificates, replacements may be requested via the following website https://www.gov.uk/replacement-exam-certificate. Original copies of the above documentation will be required if an applicant is invited to attend an Assessment Day.
