Andy Brock worked for over thirty years for Cambridge Education, first as an education planning adviser in Nepal, South Africa and The Gambia, then as Team Leader on two major education projects in rural China and finally as Managing Director of the company.
In that latter role he was responsible for the strategic direction and commercial performance of the organisation covering the development and implementation, with government partners, of some of the largest scale education programmes in Africa and South Asia in the last 20 years, for FCDO, the World Bank, USAID and the EU in: Nigeria, South Sudan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, DRC etc.
Andy is committed to creating education opportunity for all children and believes that strong leadership, clear vision and high-quality teaching are the ingredients to delivering that opportunity equitably. The role of consultancy and research in supporting governments to make improvements in their education systems is an important one and, in the best examples, showcases positive and respectful working relationships focused on providing inclusive and high-quality learning for all children.
When Andy retired from Cambridge Education in 2023, he started to publish a monthly digest, called Re Education, aimed at education practitioners and focused on important trends and changes happening in global education. The digest also provides a platform for voices from the global south who are working in education and a stimulus for debate on the pressing educational issues of our times.
