Exploring Teachers' Identity - Towards Mental Health Wellbeing

Dates
Thursday, November 30, 2023 - 13:00 to 14:00

Teachers' professional identity is a critical aspect of their lives. However, the boundary between personal and professional identity can often become blurred, making it challenging to manage our well-being effectively.

In this presentation, Dr. Munir Sewani, a Visiting Fellow at the Institute of Educational Technology at The Open University, will explore the intricate relationship between personal and professional identity. He will also shed light on the common mental health challenges that teachers encounter throughout their careers.

Dr Sewani will then introduce his innovative model of teacher identity exploration, which provides a structured framework for educators to navigate the complexities of their professional roles while safeguarding their mental well-being. By exploring this model, teachers can gain a deeper understanding of their identity, allowing them to find a balance between their personal and professional lives, ultimately promoting their mental health and overall well-being.
