The Open University and Sport England have partnered to deliver a free online course to educate and develop sports coaches, officials, instructors and activity leaders. Available on the OU’s free learning platform, OpenLearn – ‘Coaching Others to Coach’ launches on 8 July and can be studied by anyone at any time. Read more.

A high point for TIDE in Myanmar

The Open University joins programme promoting sexual and reproductive health and rights in crisis hit countries

The Wellbeing, Education and Language Studies Faculty has announced its commitment to a new multi-million pound Government funded consortium within the UK Aid Connect programme to promote sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR).

The International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) led consortium, in which the OU is a partner, includes Frontline AIDS, Internews Europe, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and Women’s Refugee Commission.

Child of our Time series on BBC One

A new 2-part OU/BBC series was shown on 3rd and 4th April. The series was commissioned for the University by OMIL, working with WELS Nominated Academics Tyrrell Golding, Dr Naomi Holford and Andy Rixon, and Media Fellow Fernando Rosell-Aquilar. In the year 2000 the BBC began filming the lives of 25 children born across the UK. As they turn 16, Professor Robert Winston and Professor Tanya Byron discover how they are being affected by huge changes in their brains and behaviour that could shape their lives forever.
