Education Scotland endorse OU Masters programme

Education Scotland has endorsed The Open University’s Masters in Education qualifications. Their endorsement of the four MA Education specialist pathways was based on an application process and panel interview, in which they explored the extent to which the programme aligned with Scotland’s national model of professional learning.

Launch of new golf athlete monitoring app informed by OU research

Informed by research from the Faculty of WELS, a new golf monitoring app has launched, which is designed to offer in-depth athlete analysis as well as research insight. The AMI Sports: Golf app enables golfers to track their training, practice, tournaments and daily wellness measures to provide insights to optimise their performance and reduce the risk of injury.

WELS Professor wins UKLA Academic Book Award 2021

Natalia Kucirkova, Professor of Reading and Children’s Development in the WELS School of Education, Childhood, Youth and Sport (ECYS) has won the UK Literary Association (UKLA) Academic Book Award 2021 by unanimous vote for her title ‘How and Why to Read and Create Children’s Digital Books: A Guide for Primary Practitioners’.

Study aims to provide greater support to families with a loved one in prison

Enhancement of the support currently offered to families with a parent or primary carer in prison is the goal of the ‘Families First’ project, a two-year study led by the OU's Children’s Research Centre, in partnership with charity YSS.
