This induction to the OU pre-registration nursing programme counts as an annual mentor update as required by the NMC. So, you need to let your manager know that you have completed the OU induction and share the printable record of completion as evidence. In subsequent years you will need to continue to complete a mentor update annually to maintain your name on your employer’s mentor register.

For Open University mentors only, now self-assess your learning. Using this link and your Open University user name and password log on and access the “Pre-registration nursing mentor iCMA”. If you have not got an OU user name and password contact the Practice Tutor, who will be able to arrange this for you.

Once you have access to the iCMA you will find instructions for completing the interactive computer marked questions, so do take time to read these through before starting the self-assessment. Access to a printable Mentor Induction Record is also available through this route, so once you have completed the iCMA print off a copy of the record to use as evidence of your learning from this mentor induction .
